Our sustainable approach to healthcare
Our comprehensive approach to sustainable healthcare focuses on:
- Reducing the environmental impact of our operations
- Improving equitable access to healthcare
- Strengthening healthcare system resilience through more sustainable models of care delivery
Environmental Impact
We are reducing our environmental impact across our value chain while adapting to a changing climate.
On our Toronto campus, our award-winning Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Plant reduces reliance on city water by 20% and enables the reuse of 500 m³ of high-purity water per day. Our Energy Project is also helping reduce carbon emissions by 30%.
Together with global initiatives such as eco-designed packaging, these efforts support Sanofi’s ambition to reach carbon neutrality by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2045.

Support to vulnerable communities
We partner with the United Way to fight for more inclusive and equitable communities, where everyone can thrive. This partnership gives us the gift of perspective while fostering a deep connection to people from all walks of life.
When emergencies strike, we recognize the importance of mobilizing our collective resources to respond swiftly with fundraising efforts. We are dedicated to partnering with the Red Cross and encourage donations to assist those affected with immediate and ongoing relief and recovery.
By matching dollar-for-dollar contributions made by employees to support the United Way and the Red Cross, we double our positive impact for those who need it the most.

We Volunteer
Our We Volunteer program allows our employees to do good for the communities we care about, develop strong and lasting relationships and learn and grow as individuals. The program connects employees with charitable organizations across Canada that need extra hands or expertise to deliver support to their communities.
Volunteer engagements can take the form of mentoring, preparing meals or sharing a valuable skillset.

Diversity & Inclusion
At Sanofi, globally, we want to reflect the diversity of our communities, unleashing our best selves every day to transform the practice of medicine.
By maximizing the power of difference, we create a culture where employees feel engaged, empowered, and included. Our workplace is a diverse and beautiful mosaic that welcomes, represents, and supports race, gender, ethnicity, age, physical ability, language, culture, religion, sexual orientation, education and nationality.
More importantly, through our DE&I Council, we continually cultivate and nurture a workplace that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion and recognizes collective differences.
Some of our local initiatives include:
Sponsoring offsite beehives as part of a Sanofi Planet Bee initiative to promote bees and other pollinators. Honey collected is sold to employees with all proceeds donated to charity.
A biodiversity initiative to protect a 30-hectare area of G. Ross Lord Park adjacent to our Toronto Campus, including establishing baseline data on plant and tree species to monitor changes and potential areas of concern.
